Pattern: Feather and fan shawl

Yarn: Noro silk garden sock

Needles: 5mm

#8: Cabled Yoke Pullover

Pattern#08 Cabled yoke pullover

YarnIce Yarns Folk Tweed

Needles: 4.5mm for body, 3.75mm for yoke, 4mm for ribbing

Sizing: M

Modifications: I don’t like turtle necks so I didn’t do one, I just did a few rows in pattern until I thought it looked long enough and bound off loosely. I did a provisional cast on for the sleeves, and then knit the yoke before the sleeves. This meant that I could get them to the right length. I wanted full length sleeves however on wearing they seem to be shrinking (this is not unusual for my hand knits… but in this case I can undo a bit and add some more). One round of cable crosses is the wrong way round due to me not being able to read a chart…but it doesn’t seem to matter. The yarn is much thinner than recommended so it’s a bit see-through but I love that about it. I also love the colour of the yarn and the texture, although I did have to remove lots of bits of straw!

A summary of my 12 sweaters in 2012 so far. Yup I’m over halfway through! #8 is coming along nicely, although there are a few umm… modifications, or mistakes… I don’t think they will matter though! My wardrobe has expanded a lot :)

#7: Leafy Top. Pictures finally off the camera :) I love this top!

Pattern: #14: Leaf Yoke Top

Yarn: Kuka Yarns Springtime (with leaves/beads removed), I used 3 skeins, so have 1 left. Need some ideas for what to do with it!

Needles: 3.75mm for yoke and 4mm for body

Sizing: small for yoke and medium for body

Modifications: I firstly knit the medium yoke on the size 4mm needles, but this was twice the size it should have been, so I reknit on smaller needles in the small size. A lot of ravellers had commented that the armholes were really large, so because I had knit the small yoke, I put the medium body onto it leaving less arm stitches. The arm holes are perfect. I did crochet edging around the neck because picking up the stitches to do the icord edging was really difficult. I also did a lace pattern at the bottom rather than the turned hem because I didn’t want a bulky section around my waist. So I did a simple lace pattern and then seed stitch for 5 rows before binding off.

Finally a picture of our shop for this week of living below the line

It came to £8.08, so a bit under, James is going to have coffee this week. I’m not, but I did accidentally drink bottled water (we don’t use the tap water at work…so by habit I drank bottled - opps). I have tap water in a bottle to take in tomorrow!

I felt quite hungry by dinner time today and yesterday, but ok after dinner. Dinner tonight was tasty, curried veg and potatoes.

Yesterday we had some good weather, so we got out and about and went to Bricklehampton to get some pictures of #6: Vitamin D. Very happy with this cardigan :)

Pattern: Vitamin D

Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Sock (3 skeins)

Needles: 3.5mm

Sizing: Medium

Modifications: I did an extra repeat of the last section to make it longer. It’s still not quite as long as I’d like, but I would have run out of yarn if I’d made it another repeat longer.

LBL: Shopping - done

I did some more fundraising at church this morning - I’m up to £175 now, most of it offline sponsorship. After lunch we went to Morrisons to do the shop.

We more or less stuck to the plan and in fact the potatoes were reduced and we managed to get a packet of gingernuts and half pint of milk too. The total bill came to £8.08. Pictures to come tomorrow once James has got them off the camera.

I now have the bread maker on cooking the first loaf for breakfast and lunch tomorrow (and a slice or two left for Tuesday).

If you want to find out more or sponsor me go to live below the line.

I had a voucher from bzzagent to get some chocolate cake mixture from the Tesco easy home baking range. I made cupcakes, it was very easy. They were quite tasty, a bit shop brought tasting perhaps, and denser than normal home made cupcakes. They tasted a bit plasticky but that might have been my silicon cases as much as anything. I got 16 cakes out of the mixture which isn’t bad, but at £3.50 for the tub that works out quite expensive per cake ~22p. Won’t be eating any next week when I’m living below the line.

So I finally did my price comparison. They say always get 3 quotes, so that’s what I did! It looks like we’re off to Morrisons on Sunday. The only thing more expensive was the marg. Very random.
The menu is: Monday: Breakfast - Toast Lunch - Jam sandwich Dinner - Veg curry + rice Tuesday: Breakfast - Toast Lunch - Jam sandwich Dinner - Leftover veg curry + potatoes Wednesday: Breakfast - Toast Lunch - Jam sandwich Dinner - Baked potatoes, beans and cheese Thursday : Breakfast - Toast Lunch - Jam sandwich Dinner - Rice one-pot Friday: Breakfast - Toast Lunch - Jam sandwich Dinner - Homemade pizza
Thanks to the amazing people at work (and a few elsewhere) I have managed to raise £100 so far! Click here to donate to SkillShare International - my chosen charity.

Sweater #7: Leaf yoke top is currently blocking. I will get modelled pics up soon of #6 and #7, but the weather has been too bad the last couple of nights. Hopefully this weekend will bring better weather and an opportunity for a nice pic :D
